This enormous old eucalypt, with a girth of maybe 5 feet, is quite alive and growing on the stony creek bank just beyond our back boundary. It has evidently been listing that way for a very long time as some of the large side branches are growing perpendicular to the ground, as though to keep it balanced.
I must say that every time we have heavy rain and the ground becomes sodden I rush out to see whether it has fallen yet. There'll be an almighty crash when it eventually happens.
At my backyard we have many eucalyptus and I love its perfum. I use to put the eucalyptus's leaf in a pot with boiling water and the house and the cuisine smell delicious! It's smell like a sauna! Try it!

Good idea, Sonia. It's something I've never done - although we often burn the branches and fallen leaves on an open fire outside when cleaning up the yard. Inside the house I sometimes burn essential oils for relaxation or to freshen a room. One of my favourites is ti-tree oil which is from another Australian native. It too, has a medicinal aroma.
